Shawarma Spiced Chicken Wings

In my mind, there’s no such thing as too many chicken wing recipes. I love trying new flavors when I make wings, and these yummy shawarma spiced chicken wings were a delicious and happy experiment! I season these chicken wings with a handful of warming spices typically found in shawarma, like paprika, cumin, turmeric, coriander, and more! The list is a handful, so if you don’t have all these spices in your cabinet already, feel free to purchase a pre-made shawarma spice blend.

Every good chicken wing has a delectable dipping sauce to go with it, and this recipe is no exception. These shawarma spiced wings taste heavenly when dipped in this easy-to-make garlic tahini sauce that only requires three ingredients. If you’ve ever eaten shawarma before, this dipping sauce is like if the garlic sauce toum and tahini had a baby. Simply whisk your ingredients together or give them a quick zap in the blender and you’re on your way to flavor town. The creamy nature of the dipping sauce with a hint of lemon complements our bold shawarma spiced wings like a match made in heaven!

Shawarma Spiced Chicken Wings


  • 2-2 ½ lbs chicken wings, dried with a paper towel
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ⅔ tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ⅛ tsp cloves

Dipping Sauce

  • ½ cup tahini
  • 3 tbsp raw garlic sauce
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 7-9 tbsp water ((depending on consistency))
  • ¼ tsp salt
  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Alternately, preheat your air fryer to 375 degrees. Mix together spices in a bowl.

  2. Make sure your wings are nice and dry. Transfer to a bowl and pour spice mixture on top. Toss until wings are evenly seasoned.

  3. Transfer wings to your baking sheet or air fryer. Bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through. Alternately, air fry at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway. Option to cook the last 5 minutes at 400 degrees for extra crispiness.

  4. While your wings are cooking, whisk together all ingredients for your dipping sauce. If your sauce is too thick for dipping, add a little bit of water and whisk until you reach your desired consistency. Serve with wings.
